Jesus, The Passover Lamb 🐑: The Journey Begins 🛣

By admin on June 27, 2020

While the Israelites were still in the land of Egypt, the Lord gave the following instructions to Moses and Aaron: “From now on, this month will be the first month of the year for you…Take special care of this chosen animal until the evening of the fourteenth day of this first month. Then the whole assembly of the community of Israel must slaughter their lamb or young goat at twilight. They are to take some of the blood and smear it on the sides and top of the doorframes of the houses where they eat the animal. That same night they must roast the meat over a fire and eat it along with bitter salad greens and bread made without yeast…”

“…These are your instructions for eating this meal: Be fully dressed, wear your sandals, and carry your walking stick in your hand. Eat the meal with urgency, for this is the Lord’s Passover.”

‭‭Exodus‬ ‭12:1-2, 6-8, 11‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Welcome to Part 7 of our 7-part series based on the sermon by Bishop Bob Alonge that outlines 7 important things to note about the Passover. Thank You, God, for Your Word and Grace to go on this journey and thank you, dearest reader, for joining us!

In the first article of this series, we noted that the Passover was beneficial to both God and man. In the second article, we noted that God told the Israelites to celebrate the Passover every year; passing on from generation to generation, the memory of what God did for them in Egypt – liberation from slavery and oppression. We too, when taking the communion and in other Christian practices, remember that Jesus’ sacrifice brought us forgiveness and freedom from sin, disease, Hell & so much more! In the third article, we noted that God commanded the Israelites to eat bread without leaven (yeast) which symbolises a life without sin.

In the fourth article, we recognised that God’s commandment for the entire lamb to be roasted by fire and eaten with no leftovers was to emphasise the Holiness of the sacrifice. In the fifth article, we noted that a lamb was chosen to save an entire household, and Jesus does the same for our families and communities but we must choose Him by Faith. In the sixth article, we emphasised the meaning behind the Passover which is by one act God struck down the enemy of Israel and at the same time liberated His people, which is precisely what Christ has done for us!

So lastly, the seventh thing to note from the Passover story is that the Israelites were to eat the meal with a strong sense of readiness to embark on a journey. You see with God, the end is always a beginning. The end of their slavery and oppression in Egypt was the beginning of their journey to the Promised Land God had prepared for them. The same goes for us as Christians, before we received Christ as our Saviour and Lord, we were disconnected from God, our spirits were dead and our lives were controlled by sin and under the oppression of the enemy. That life ends the meant we receive the finished work of Christ and immediately we begin a new life in which we are fully connected to God, our spirits are alive and thriving, and the Holy Spirit begins to take control of our lives as we let Him led us to overcome every obstacles and tactic of the enemy, and reign as ings according to our individual purpose.

So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. And because you belong to him, the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death. The law of Moses was unable to save us because of the weakness of our sinful nature. So God did what the law could not do. He sent his own Son in a body like the bodies we sinners have. And in that body, God declared an end to sin’s control over us by giving his Son as a sacrifice for our sins. He did this so that the just requirement of the law would be fully satisfied for us, who no longer follow our sinful nature but instead follow the Spirit.

‭‭Romans‬ ‭8:1-4‬ ‭NLT‬‬

It is so amazing that before we even chose to obey Him, to even accept – Christ, the Son of God did so much for us! But we should never forget that experience all of it depends on one simple decision. Yes, all that God has made available to us: fellowship with Him, freedom from sin and death, kingship in His Eternal Kingdom; all of it depends on our choice to believe and receive by Faith, Jesus the Christ as our Saviour and Lord. Yes, there is one aspect of this decision that we make once and for all at the beginning of our Christian journey, but there is also the daily, moment by moment, surrender and submission to the Holy Spirit.

While are our spirits are alive in Christ, our mind still needs to be transformed to align with the mind of our King Jesus. This is why it is so important to prioritise spending time in the Word of God, in Prayer and Worship – they are great tools for transforming our minds. Sharing the Good News (Gospel) of Jesus and His Eternal Kingdom often also helps our minds to stay focused on being a part of God’s Kingdom plan (Read this article for more on this topic). We must also prioritise our individual God-given purpose above our hustle for our human desires (Read this article for more on this topic).

Special practices/rituals such as taking the communion and celebrating Easter or Christmas, also help us in our journey of transformation. Remember all these are simply tools, the most important thing is to have an active and personal relationship with Jesus Christ – His Love for You is infinite.

The Passover Lamb 🐑: Consumed by Fire🔥

The Passover Lamb 🐑: Consumed by Fire🔥

By admin on June 25, 2020

While the Israelites were still in the land of Egypt, the Lord gave the following instructions to Moses and Aaron: “…Announce to the whole community of Israel that on the tenth day of this month each family must choose a lamb or a young goat for a sacrifice, one animal for each household…That same night they must roast the meat over a fire and eat it along with bitter salad greens and bread made without yeast. Do not eat any of the meat raw or boiled in water. The whole animal—including the head, legs, and internal organs—must be roasted over a fire. Do not leave any of it until the next morning. Burn whatever is not eaten before morning.”

‭‭Exodus‬ ‭12:1, 3, 8-10‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Welcome to Part 4 of our 7-part series based on the sermon by Bishop Bob Alonge that outlines 7 important things to note about the Passover. In the first article of this series, the significance of the Passover was highlighted firstly as being beneficial to both God and man. In the second article, we explored the fact that God told the Israelites to celebrate the Passover every year; passing on from generation to generation, the memory of what God did for them in Egypt – liberation from slavery and oppression. We too, when taking the communion and in other Christian practices, remember that Jesus Christ through His Death and Resurrection gave us forgiveness and freedom from sin, disease, Hell & so much more! The third article looks into the reason why God commanded the Israelites to eat bread without leaven (yeast) which is to symbolise a life without sin.

The fourth thing to note is that God ordered the Passover lamb to be roasted i.e. consumed by fire. Every single part of the lamb was roasted, even its head & feet. 🔥 Fire symbolises God’s acceptance, and so the lamb being roasted by fire was symbolising the glory of God (which includes preservation, health, prosperity, etc) coming upon every household that made the sacrifice. And, It wasn’t just roasted before it was eaten rather God commanded that there be no leftovers, so whatever remained from what the household ate was completely burnt by fire which means part of the Passover lamb was consumed by God – we explored this fact more in the first article

“Each Passover lamb must be eaten in one house. Do not carry any of its meat outside, and do not break any of its bones.” ‭‭Exodus‬ ‭12:46‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“He guards all his bones; Not one of them is broken.” ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭34:20‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

But when they came to Jesus and saw that He was already dead, they did not break His legs…For these things were done that the Scripture should be fulfilled, “Not one of His bones shall be broken.” ‭‭John‬ ‭19:33 &  36‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

The Scriptures above show something crucial for our understanding of why God was so specific and detailed about the Passover Lamb. God, the Eternal Author of the Universe, had always planned for Jesus, His Son, Himself, to be the Saviour for Humanity; the Precious Lamb of God that would take away our sins and bring us into God’s Kingdom as sons and daughters. It has always been God’s intention to establish His Kingdom (His Will and Way) upon the Earth through us His kings, with Jesus as the King of kings He was always meant to be (to learn more about God’s Kingdom plan, read this article).  But first, He must lay down His life for ours, that we may have His. Oh, what joy, to be loved by an intentional God.

The King is Coming👑: Choose Christ Over Survival✟

The King is Coming👑: Choose Christ Over Survival✟

Don't let your hustle rob you of your purpose
Don’t let your hustle rob you of your purpose.

Jesus continued, saying; Therefore I tell you, stop being worried or anxious (perpetually uneasy, distracted) about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, as to what you will wear. Is life not more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air; they neither sow [seed] nor reap [the harvest] nor gather [the crops] into barns, and yet your heavenly Father keeps feeding them. Are you not worth much more than they? And who of you by worrying can add one hour to [the length of] his life?

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6:25-27‬ ‭(Amplified Bible)

The simple key to aligning with the King in this season is not to pray any special prayers or make any grand financial sacrifice; it is to let your purpose to take over your priorities because your priorities determine the outcome of your year and, to be honest, your lives. For a Christian, a truly successful life is one in which the purpose God created you for is fulfilled. It is impossible to give yourself to anything and everything that comes your way and still achieve a successful life. We must prioritise the kingdom when it comes to our time, our resources, our energy, our relationships, and even our faith!

Do you know that human needs are the basis of all man-made religions? All human attempts to reach God revolve around two interconnected things: survival and self-worth. Abraham Maslow developed a hierarchy of needs in humans that greatly influence how we prioritise our lives. The first bottom two stages, which are the most crucial, revolve around survival. The top 3 revolve around the things from which we derive self-worth. So since these needs influence the way we live, they most certainly influence the way we relate with God. This is how and why both the ancient Israeli kingdom and contemporary Christianity often move from Kingdom to Religion.

Jesus continued, saying; “So then, forsake your worries! Why would you say, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear?’ For that is what the unbelievers chase after. Doesn’t your heavenly Father already know the things your bodies require? So above all, constantly chase after the realm of God’s kingdom and the righteousness that proceeds from him. Then all these less important things will be given to you abundantly.”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6:31-33‬ ‭(The Passion Translation)

Jesus turned the hierarchy of needs upside down for us; He calls us to prioritise God’s Kingdom plan and being rightly aligned with the King above all else, and then all things related to our survival and self-worth would be provided to us by Him. Righteousness is a free gift given by our King, Jesus Christ. We are rightly aligned when we put our faith in the perfect work of His death, burial and resurrection. Dear friend, if you want to experience all of God’s Precious Promises for this season; it has to be by Grace. Don’t let your hustle rob you of your purpose.

 Action Point

  • What would you be doing for God’s Kingdom, if all your needs were taken care of?
  • Take steps towards that ‘thing’.

THE KING IS COMING👑 : GOD’S KINGDOM PLAN👑

THE KING IS COMING👑 : GOD’S KINGDOM PLAN👑

By admin on June 10, 2020

Jesus Came To Establish a Kingdom, not a religion
Jesus Came To Establish a Kingdom, not a religion

“But He (Jesus) said to them, I must preach the good news (the Gospel) of the kingdom of God to the other cities [and towns] also, for I was sent for this [purpose].

‭‭Luke‬ ‭4:43‬ ‭Amplified Bible (Classic Edition)

It has always been about the Kingdom. God came not to establish a religion but a Kingdom with Christ as King. Jesus came to establish a Kingdom, not a religion, not a way of worship, not a habit of going to church, or even a kind of morality. He came to institute the government of Heaven upon the Earth.

In Genesis 1:26-28, We see that God created man with the purpose of establishing a Kingdom. The spirit of dominion which is expressed in exploration, innovation and expansion is the nature of God’s Kingdom. God’s plan for establishing His Kingdom was not a short process but more like a relay race. In Exodus 19:5-6, God told the Israelites that He wanted to make them a ‘kingdom of priests’ through the covenant He made with them. This means even the law from God that Moses brought to the Israelites was intended to establish the Kingdom of God. God would raise up prophets and judges to help them assimilate the Kingdom, and spread it across the world. God knew, however, that the law was not enough to truly bring humanity into His Kingdom; He always knew that His Kingdom on Earth would need a King, and not just any kind of King but the Messiah, Jesus the Christ. Through Him, the dominion of the Kingdom is perfected in Us and on Earth.

We’re too busy trying to get to Heaven but God is trying to get Heaven to Earth through us!

All four gospels attest to the fact that Jesus, himself, embraced His purpose as King by identifying as the long-awaited Christ, the specially anointed King who was equal and in complete union with God (Matthew 16:15-20, Mark 14:61-62, Luke 24:44-46, John 18:33-37). The Israelites awaited this King that would deliver the Kingdom of God to them, and now, all of humanity gets to experience Him through Faith – believing He is who He says He is.

In the previous post, we emphasised that this is a crucial season to align with the King. But how do we do this? There’s a simple key but we could miss it, just like a lot of the Israelites did when Jesus was on Earth. You see they expected Christ to come in splendour and majesty but He showed up in a manger. They didn’t understand that Christ needed to be ordinary, to be like us. Everything He did was not as God but as a man specially anointed by God and one with God. He did this so that We could become like Him so that He would be the ‘firstborn’ of the Kingdom (Romans 8:29). In this Kingdom, there are no subjects or slaves but rather kings; that is why Jesus is known as the King of kings!

In the next post, we are going to share a simple but truly important way to align with the King in this season of change. But the most important thing to take away from this article is that God’s plan has always been to establish a Kingdom with Christ as King. And in a Kingdom, you don’t tell the King what to do; rather you follow His instructions.

 Action Points

Explore the following questions:

  • Has your Christian life been about the Kingdom or more of a mere religion/doctrine?
  • Do you believe you can have a relationship with God like Jesus did on Earth?

The King is Coming 👑: Post-Covid19 Living 🔓

The King is Coming 👑: Post-Covid19 Living 🔓

COVID19 HAS NOT KNOCKED AWAU GOD'S PROMISES CONCERNING YOU!
COVID19 HAS NOT KNOCKED AWAY GOD’S PROMISES CONCERNING YOU!

The earth was rocked at the sound of His voice from the mountain, but now He has promised, “Once and for all, I will not only shake the systems of the world, but also the unseen powers in the heavenly realm!”

Now this phrase “once and for all” clearly indicates the final removal of things that are shaking, that is, the old order, so only what is unshakeable will remain. Since we are receiving our rights to an unshakeable kingdom we should be extremely thankful and offer God the purest worship that delights His heart as we lay down our lives in absolute surrender, filled with awe.

‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭12:26-28‬ ‭(The Passion Translation)

We are in a time of change, nations across the world are transitioning from lockdowns and strict measures put in place to minimise the Covid-19 outbreak, to the gradual reopening of their societies and economies. Times of change are times of stretching, of re-evaluation, of difficulty. What we are going through is not comfortable, it’s certainly not convenient but the truth is we can’t stop it, we can respond and adapt to it. We can choose to respond with fear, or even denial and struggle through this season, or we can choose to respond in faith and experience God’s Kingdom in our lives like never before.

Now for the Kingdom to operate in your life, You need Grace. How do we receive Grace? We align with the King of the Unshakable Kingdom. Yes, we’re talking about Jesus, the Christ. But how do we align with Him in this season? How do we experience the benefits of being in His Kingdom? We are going to discover this and more in this 3-part article series based on the sermon by Bishop Bob Alonge called “The King is coming”

The first thing we need to recognise is that Covid-19 has not knocked away God’s Precious Promises to us.

At the beginning of this year, many of us received powerful prophetic words about this year; God said it was going to be a fruitful year, one of abundance, expansion and consolidation, that this year was going to take you to the next level.

Well, dear friend, we want to remind you that every word that comes from God does not fall to the ground void; His Promises have no expiry date (Isaiah 55:11, 1 Peter 1:25).

And as Bishop Bob declared, we are in that time when God will do quick time, at double the pace, what He has promised from the onset. The voice of the Lord has spoken and now the hand of God will follow it.

How can we be so sure? Because of the power of the blessing. A blessing is a saying that empowers the person being blessed with the ability of the ‘blesser’ which causes that which is said to happen. This is why a blessing must originate from the Lord God. Isaac was so confident of the power of a blessing that He spoke in the past tense about the future of Jacob (Genesis 27:37).

So we can be confident that 2020 is not cancelled, God is too faithful to fail, He cannot break His Promise. Jesus is King, and the King is coming, are you going to align with Him?

Action Points

  • Thank God for His Faithfulness, remind yourself of the promises He has already fulfilled in your life.
  • Pray and ask God to show you ways you can align with Christ in this season.
